Description

Another unusual submission from me, but I simply wanted to do it since I love to express my opinions to my favorite things and I love this kind of memes.

1. Favorite Character:  Sunset Shimmer : I know I'm not the only one in that and I'm aware of how overrated she is, but after Rainbow Rocks I really fell in love with this character -literally. I always kinda liked redeemed villains, but THIS case is something stunning... Sure, she was a very poorly portrayed villain (that fact I despise), BUT I see her (and many other redeemed/ redeemable villains) a different way than anyone else. I especially deny all the claiming that becoming evil was ONLY her own fault with no side factors (since she was still just a FILLY when she chose a dark path and it seems people are forgetting that no child isn't the only one responsible for their bad actions. It's always family and parental education and the way of care). Where the heck were her parents/ family? And how comes that no one thinks about them?? And after reading the comic about her backstory, there were too many indications that she was actually homeless -either an orphan or having ignorant, hateful family (in another comic she mentioned she was never getting along with her family), so it just makes sense the more I think about it. Also, people say her reformation was simply just a rainbow shot, but it's not true. If you look carefully, after she put that crown on her head, you can see she cried, tried to defy and obviously didn't expect to transform into a demonic being or being truly evil, nor physically hurt anyone (she wasn't even able to hurt Spike). Already in that moment she semed to regret what she did. She believed that ruling the world would give her everything she needs (and she obviously had some good reasons than just what we officially got against her). But after Twilight and friends defeated her by the friendship power, then she understood what will really give her everything she needs and what's really important in life. That's why she changed her mind (also proves that deep down, she wasn't truly evil, just a regular misguided pony). And then the redemption arc started, oh gosh... How kind and determined to change she was despite all the suffering she came through for her misdeeds and the feels and emphaty I had for her throughout the whole movie were incredible (same in Friendship Games). Yes, it's (and should be) more HER story than about Mane 6 what made me love her even more and made me wish she was "Twilight" of the EqG world forever. She has an amazing potential to be a main character in the spin-off franchise. Having reformed antagonist as a main protagonist in a spin-off series could be really amazing, original and enjoyable. I'm kinda tired of the same Mane 6 in everything MLP:FiM related (we already know everything about them). If EG is a spin-off, it easily could have a different main protagonists. Too bad they didn't go that route. She is now the character I can empathize with the most. She needs support, love and friendship to get over her past. She's simply my Number One and I really, really hope I'll see more of her in the future. It's her who really showed me and gave me deep reasons why are reformed villains the most interesting characters (to me). Also, I need to see more of her true pony self.

2. Despised Character: Human Twilight Sparkle: First of all, my hate is not mostly for her personality (she's currently quite ok to me, actually), in fact, I can relate to her personality and social traits (such as being bullied in the past or hated/ ignored for being too shy and sensitive), though I have some small reasons to dislike her past self too, stated here: sunsetmajka626.deviantart.com/… My problem is more with her role. I just never liked the idea of human Twilight being a part of the main cast, even before Rainbow Rocks happened. I'm quite disappointed she unnecessarily became a "new" main character in EG and ruined what could make EG so unique in comparison to the show. And giving her alicorn wings so suddenly just for the sake of being Twlight's counterpart (when pony Twilight worked hard for SO LONG to earn them) was just a slap on the face for me. Even Sunset deserves them more at this point. I just don't think EG necessarily NEEDS Twilight as a main character to work well. EG worked really well with just pony Twilight on the visit in the first two movies. Actually, I would like Sci-Twi more if she was actually a recurring antagonist (it would be really interesting and original to have a counterpart of the main protagonist from the show as an antagonist in the spin-off series) or if she stayed at Crystal Prep (as originally planned) and spreaded friendship there and was just a recurring protagonist, OR in the case she's in Mane 6 and wouldn't be the main focus (if she was a main character since the very first EG movie instead of pony Twilight, it would be at least understandable and acceptable (to me). But Twilight simply ALWAYS has to be the main focus, no matter in which form. The way it is, I'll always like pony Twi million times better. Also, I prefer Sunset to interact with pony Twi too, but now it seems like it'll never happen again.
SMALL EDIT: I'm slowly warming up to her as a character, but it's simply hard for me to deal with the fact she's the main EG protagonist now. But I respect all her fans and it's just my problem that I can't find my soft spot for her (other than being best bud with Sunset).

EG Fluttershy: In this case, better don't want to know why I dislike her since I know how people react to such a reasons and how stupid and obsessed would I look. I know I look stupid already for the reasons I dislike Sci-Twi. My reasons for disliking EG Fluttershy are even more "petty", but still justified to me.

3. Favorite Season:  Season 5 : Well, while season 5 came with the best episodes in MLP so far (it were especially episodes focused to solving things related to earlier seasons and that season was so nostalgic and so many epic things happened there). But season 7 is so far FULL of interesting and amazing episodes and even ALL the upcoming ones sound epic. It looks like all Season 7 episodes will be beyond average to me.
Edit: I actually still like season 5 the most.

4. Least Favorite Season: Season 2: Because there are the most of my least favorite episodes and the most of boring ones. But I don't dislike this season. There are some really great episodes too, including both two-parters.

5. Most Overrated Character: Derpy Hooves: There are some more that are maybe more popular than Derpy -eg. Luna, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Sonata, etc. But I can see why they're overrated. And I love them too. But Derpy is a background character. I absolutely DON'T mind that she's popular, just a bit surprising. I RESPECT her fans and their opinions, I just, when I really have to choose a overrated character, it's her, since I don't see background characters with lack of role interesting (but as I said, I do respect others opinions!). PS: I don't dislike her! I'm neutral to her.

Octavia: I was never into fan favorite background ponies and I see them everywhere which kinda annoys me. Octavia is one of those I see the most overrated. But again, I have nothing against her fans.

6. Most Underrated Character: Starlight Glimmer: Gosh, I'm really surprised of how much hate this character is getting and how misunderstood she is.... No, I disagree!  Yes, yes, you say "how petty her motives were, losing a friend is a petty, silly thing to whine about, etc, etc..." But again, seriously? If losing a friend is a petty reason, then friendship obviously means nothing and the show itself is meaningless then too. Friendship's not a sweater -when we lost one, we can always buy another. Friendship is a strong BOND -it's the other kind of love. Yes, we can make a new friends, but a true friend can be only one or a few in life, it's a special bond that can be hardly broken and once it is, it has a huge psychical impact on those who share it. Starlight had a really strong bond with Sunburst, he was obviously the only one who cared for her, spent time with her and shared interests with her. It looks like she had no family, or at least not a caring family that would guide her. And then, he's got his cutiemark for discovering his talent and poof -he was gone from her life. No other explanations for her. She lost the only close person in her young life. She naturally thought that the fault is in getting the cutiemark and being special. She was broken and afraid of another disappointment from making another friend until the cutiemarks are there as a threat. And since she had no one to guide her, she chose her own path -the thing she believed in -special talents destroy friendships, so she has to get rid of them so ponies can finally live happily as friends. She had a lot of time to study all kinds of spells.
Another important thing, everyone complains she didn't contact Sunburst. And even IF she didn't, the one who LEFT is supposed to do a first step to contact a friend and assure them everything's alright. Why Sunburst never tried to reach her, even right after he moved?! Then HOW MUCH she meant to HIM after he's got his cutiemark?! Why NO ONE complains about THAT too? It's like he's not obligatory to contact his best friend, yet he's the innocent one, only because his friend was the "evil one". Of course he couldn't know what Starlight will do, but he obviously had to know about her situation and what a strong bond she feels towards him and what his loss could mean for her due to how close they were. Starlight didn't get a word from him after he left, so it only confirmed her theory about cutiemarks and friendships. We know literally nothing about her life between losing Sunburst and building her village. And she literally said to Twilight "you don't know what I came through!" on the edge of tears. I believe there was something more to it than what she revealed.
She built a special place where ponies can live in harmony, without their cutiemarks. OF COURSE she couldn't get rid of her own cutiemark -how the heck could she take other ponies' cutiemarks without hers (she even said that, so what the heck)?! It's not because she didn't want to get rid of hers. And do you think the ponies would agree to get rid of their cutiemarks if she told them the truth? And yes, the gave up of their cutiemarks willingly. They admitted it and genuinely considered Starlight as their friend. They weren't brainwashed by magic. They trusted her and believed their lives will be better without their cutiemarks.
And then, Mane 6 suddenly came and ruined what Starlight called "harmony" and "true friendship". She really wanted ponies to be happy and believed they are. And then, even THAT was suddenly gone -boom, another wound to her already broken soul. When all her hope for a good life was gone, she had nothing to lose and did the last thing she could -revenge, showing the one who took everything from her, how's that feeling -even at the cost of her own life. Once Twilight showed her the consequences of her actions, she slowly started to realize that she might be wrong afterall, feeling guilty (her expression during that moment explains everything), but still was hesitant and broken enough to give up of the phylosophy she believed in for so many years, until Twilight was talking to her reasonably and finally convinced her (which was actually a damn good and deep reformation, to the contrary what others say). She was never intentionally evil, all she wanted was a justice/ equality between ponies and a true friend who will be always there for her. Twilight realized it and that's why she decided to forgive her and offer her friendship and the position of her pupil. She understood Starlight was deep down always a good pony. Heck, why couldn't we consider Starlight's actions as the stages of grief? Even the intention of the episode was to show that even seemingly "unimportant" things can make a huge impact at someone's life and cause an unintentional harm. Did anyone understand the message? Say what you want, but YES, I CAN sympathize with her and without doubt I consider her the most underrated and misunderstood character in MLP.

7. Favorite Villain:  Aria Blaze (Dazzlings): Only when it comes to unredeemed villains. Firstly; the fact is that I generally dislike villains (not just in MLP). I hate evil characters and evil itself. But there may be rarely some exception in the world of villains (not counting redeemed villains). And that exception now goes to Sirens from Rainbow Rocks. It's especially for their songs that are ALL extremely catchy and I fell under their spell. And second; yet I like even the characters, especially Aria -she came to me the most unappreciated of the three and most interesting despite her lack of character. I grew to love grumpy characters. Her fights with Sonata and interactions with Adagio made me impressed to their relations since despite they're all mean to each other, they're still together and yet get along, especially while they sing. And their defeat caused even bigger interest in me since Twilight mentioned they're now just harmless teenage girls, what means, they have a chance to redeem themselves. Now we can only hope they will return once.

8. Least Favorite Villain: Ahuizotl: Nothing much to say about him. He just came to me as the least interesting, least likeable and boring villain.

9. Favorite Song:  Find the purpose in your life (sung by Gabby the Griffon and CMC): Now this is some pure mystery to me. I guess that song was supposed to be upbeat and positive, but to me, it has rather somewhat sad tune and gives me some mixed, positively-negative feelings.. and thoughts (in a good way). Everyone imagines different things when listening to certain songs, but I can't feel anything happy from that song (especially the chorus), just a little sadness, memories and depth. It's inexplicably too epic and deep everytime I'm listening to it, that I would put it into a different situation (with different lyrics) instead. It moved me THAT MUCH that it happened to be my favorite MLP song.

10. Least Favorite song: Evil Enchantress. ALL MLP and EqG songs are in such a catchy tone / melody, that I simply can't dislike any of them. But there are "FEW" of the short ones that were in really annoying and boring rhythm, just like this one... To be clear, I love ALL of the longer songs (longer than 1 minute)...

11. Favorite Episode:  This is a really hard decision. It's extremely hard for me to choose one favorite episode. There are SO MANY emotional and beautiful spirited episodes. But I decided to go with these three.
Amending Fences : Reasons? -Return to the very first episode and solving a friendship problem related to it, All my favorite BG ponies, Reminding of how bad friend Twilight was (so emotional :')), FEELS, Slice of life, ETC...

Crusaders of the lost mark: I think there's nothing more to say than other fans are saying. FEELS, fullfilled dream and development of an unlikeable character is enough to make this episode the best.

The Cutie Remark:
Yes, so much hated episode is actually my most favorite. Reasons are simple, starting with feels. You can read my "most underrated character" with reasons, I love Starlight, the message, the storyline and the fact Starlight is now Twilight's pupil (possibly one of Mane 6) only make this episode 20% cooler and emotional. And yes, I'm a huge Sunset fan that loves Starlight.

12. Despised Episode: Make new friends but keep Discord: There are just a few episodes that didn't impress me that much. But I don't hate any episode, even this one. There's just one thing that bothers me about that episode a lot. Why exactly is Discord reformed and free? Nopony besides Fluttershy and Celestia don't give him a chance to be their friend and they all act like they hate him. Instead of teaching him about friendship, they rather avoid him and then accusing him for any harm he caused. But they don't get any blame for it, because they did nothing wrong, only avoided and despised Discord and let him to cause all of this. Why not? The master of chaos can learn about friendship on his own, right?

I agree with you on the best episodes of the show, and that Starlight is the most underrated character in it. She’s the character in the series that I personally relate to the most.
